Locally produced Mission Movie took top honors at the New York International Latino Film Festival July 27-August 1. Una Película de la Misión/Mission Movie, the new feature film set in San Francisco's Mission District, was named Best Feature Film and was accompanied by an HBO cash award of $5000! . "We were all truly amazed," said Swenson. "There were so many quality films at the festival, and it such an honor to be selected. It's unbelievable." Directed by award-winning Bay Area filmmaker Lise Swenson, Mission Movie debuted on June 4 to an enthusiastic crowd of over 2,000 at an outdoor community screening in the Mission . We will be announcing upcoming festival appearances and theatrical release of the film in the coming weeks for the many people still eager to see this new San Francisco gem.

The New York International Latino Film Festival (NYILFF) is a premiere film festival presenting the works of Latino artists and people of Latin American descent. Mission Movie, a passionate, soulful urban drama about the inner life of San Francisco's most diverse enclave, tells five intersecting stories that take place over one summer. Based on true life stories from the neighborhood, the cast is led by veteran Columbian actor Diego Vasquez and includes many Bay Area actors, including cameos by well-known artists and activists. In true form to the Mission District, the bilingual film features both Spanish and English subtitles.
