Mission Movie, which has been called the SF version of “Do the
Right Thing,” is derived from real-life stories of San Francisco’s
most vibrant, complex, in-transition neighborhood. Inner turmoil turns
outward in this bilingual urban drama about the struggle for territory
and belonging. Mission Movie represents a truly new paradigm in filmmaking
in that it was produced within a community context. Overseeing the production
from concept to completion was a diverse consortium of artists, filmmakers
and community members who formed the Mission Movie Collaborative. Mining
the stories of real people in a real place the Mission Movie Collaborative
used minimal material resources to make this stellar, high production
value film.
The New York International Latino Film Festival (NYILFF) is a premiere
film festival presenting the works of Latino artists and people of Latin
American descent. The festival braids together Latinos in Hollywood and
the independent film industry, along with aficionados and students of
film and the arts. The festival opens Tuesday, July 27, and closes Sunday,
August 1. For more information, visit http://www.nylatinofilm.com.
Members of the Mission Movie Collaborative will be in New York for the
duration of the festival to handle press inquiries. To arrange an interview,
