Mission Movie, which has been called the SF version of “Do the Right Thing,” is derived from real-life stories of San Francisco’s most vibrant, complex, in-transition neighborhood. Inner turmoil turns outward in this bilingual urban drama about the struggle for territory and belonging. Mission Movie represents a truly new paradigm in filmmaking in that it was produced within a community context. Overseeing the production from concept to completion was a diverse consortium of artists, filmmakers and community members who formed the Mission Movie Collaborative. Mining the stories of real people in a real place the Mission Movie Collaborative used minimal material resources to make this stellar, high production value film.
